about us
In the last several years, knitting groups have sprung up in many urban areas throughout the country, many modeled on the Stitch 'n' Bitch group made famous by Debbie Stoller's popular publications. Although several small groups exist, Lawrence has, by and large, no cohesive knitting community. Why not? Is there no interest? Surely, this cannot be the case, as there are three fiber and fabric arts stores on the 900 block of Massachusetts Street alone! Clearly, this is one crafty town!
Knit Lawrence hopes to provide area knitters with an active and informative community. Our meetings offer something for everyone: new knitters watch and learn from more experienced knitters, while experienced knitters are eager to share their experiences and to welcome others to the knitting tradition. Most importantly, Knit Lawrence provides an outlet for those of us obsessed with yarn and sticks! We meet twice a month at Mirth at 8th and New Hampshire. Check out the Events page for more details.
